ORLY BREATHABLE SWATCHES/REVIEW (& A CATCH UP)

Hi guys, this is my first post this year! I honestly didn't think it'd been that long! This could be a long chatty introduction so if you just want to see the polishes just scroll past this and click on the read more :)

So what's been happening? Not an awful lot, I've been busy with school and my family and friends, trying to make the most of life really (sounds so cringe, sorry).
As my clinical time at uni has been increased over the past few years it means I haven't been able to wear polish much, in fact I've gone months and months without touching any polish! I've been trying to destash as well because we moved house and I just have no room or need for 1000+ nail polish bottles. I still have loads to get rid of so if you want/need anything hit me up!
Anyway I'm now going into my fifth and final year and yes it's so cliche but I honestly do not know where the time has gone. It's gonna be a busy and stressful year, if you can, please remember me in your prayers, it's very much appreciated (& needed!)

The most exciting recent thing that's happened lately is that I've been across the pond for the past month! My university sent me on an amazing student exchange program to Boston University for 2 weeks and it was one of the most rewarding and amazing experiences of my life. I then went off to New York where I met up with my family who came over and joined me for a lovely holiday!
I met some incredible people and made some amazing friends, did some sneaky shopping, went whale watching (this was definitely a highlight), ate so so much good food and of course did all the touristy things. I got back to England a few days ago and I've definitely got the holiday blues. Boston was so amazing and it now holds a very special place in my heart, I'm not sure when I'll return, hopefully soon! Anyone reading this from Boston? Leave me a comment!

And of course NYC lived up to it's expectations, I had such a good time there. One regret? I didn't go to Nordstrom Rack which I've now heard has amazing discounted makeup! Ah well, next time! I'll be posting some holiday pics on instagram so head there if you want to see them.

I could write so much more but I think that's enough for now. Ok lets get back to business and talk polish.

PISTACHIO NAILS

Hi everyone, how are you all today? Today I decided to make a trip to Sally's and got some amazing polishes, most of which are gifts but I like shopping for gifts so I'm happy :)
Tonight I have some nail art which I did a while ago, I shared a sneak peek on instragram a while ago and I absolutely love these!
This whole design was inspired by the colour Citrus Green* from the Deco Art acrylic paints. The green just reminded me of pistachios and I had to paint them on my nails because that's what normal people do right?!
I used 2 coats of Orly Pure Porcelain as a base colour and them painted on the pistachio kernels first by mixing together white, brown and hint of yellow paints to get the right colour. I then painted in the pistachios using Citrus Green* and Grasshopper Green* acrylic paints by Deco Art. I then outlined everything with black acrylic paint.

Love it! This is probably the most realistic nail art I've done, realistic nail art is still unfamiliar territory for me and a tad bit frightening so I'm trying it out a slowly.

ORLY HIGH ON HOPE

Happy Wednesday everyone! So we are halfway through the week yaay, hasn't it gone fast? I'm sorry I've been a bit quite but I just haven't really had time to get a post up but I'm having the night off tonight so I knew I had to blog!
So today I have a swatch of a gorgeous Orly polish! I remember wanting this when I first saw it but never got round to getting it so I was really happy to find this in T K Maxx for £2.99!
It's a gorgeous blue with duochrome shimmer/flakes in it! Such a gorgeous combination!

MATTE & GLOSSY SPLATTER NAILS

Hi everyone, I'm so tired so this will be a really short post.
I love how shimmers look when they are mattified and of course I also love them when they are glossy :)
So for these nails I started with 2 coat of Smolder by Orly, I then applied a matte top coat on all the nails except the accent nail and used a regular top coat and straw to create the glossy splatter. On the accent nail I did the opposite, so I applied a coat of regular top coat ad used the matte top coat by OPI for the splatter.

and that's a wrap, see you tomorrow :)

PINK & PURPLE GLITTER PLACEMENT GRADIENT NAILS

Hey guys, I hope you've all had a lovely weekend :) I love Sunday evenings, they're the most relaxing part of the week, I'm watching Modern Family, editing photos and getting posts ready with a big hot mug of yummy coffee :)
I am in love with todays nails! I bought some more glitter recently and when I got them I decided to try a gradient glitter placement using the pink and the purple and I think they turned out great! They are so sparkly and I think the colours blend together really nicely :) I did need about 3 coats of top coat on this but it was totally worth it! You can see quite a few bubbles but they weren't noticable irl!

I forgot to mention the base coat is Orly Pure Porcelain. I love this so much and I'll definitely be doing more gradient glitter placements :) Have a lovely week my friends and I'll catch you in the next post !

HOLOGRAPHIC DISC FRAMED NAILS

Hey guys, how are you all doing, aren't you glad it's Friday? I'm ill at the moment which is just a pain in the rear when you still have to go to uni and work! Remember how fun it being ill used to be when you were younger, you got the day off school to stay in bed and watch tv all day and have your mum fuss over you *sigh*
Anyway let's talk nails, I don't know what I was thinking when I did these nails and I wasn't going to post them but yeah, here you go. I started off with 2 coats of Orly Smolder and then used the holographic silver and gold disc glequins to frame the nail. I think my nails are just too short here so it doesn't look good but it might look nicer on longer nails!

Ok guys, hopefully I'll see you tomorrow, take care until then :)

ORLY MISS CONDUCT

Hey my beautiful friends, how are you all? Aren't you glad Monday is over, well actually the whole of January feels like a very long Monday to me! Haha, anyone else share this ?
Ok so today I have one of my favourite nail polishes to share with you. I loved Miss Conduct when I first saw it but I always thought it had actual glitter in it so when I did finally get this I was happy to note that in fact there isn't any glitter in it.
It's a gorgeous pink colour (it looks pinker and brighter in my pictures) and has this beautiful scattered holo throughout.
It applies effortlessly and dries fast, doesn't really require topcoat and is easy to remove which means this is one of my go to polishes when I'm in hurry! Don't you wish all polishes were like this?

I really like this type of polish and so now I want all the Zoyas like this eg. Blaze, Aurora etc.

GLITZ & GLAMOUR WITH MORE CHRISTMAS GLEQUINS

Hey guys, hows your weekend going? I have loads of work to do and I finally started today but still have so much to do! Anway here are some more Christmassy nails for you guys.
I started off with a base colour of Orly Glitz and Glamour, which is just the perfect gold nail polish ever, I then used red and green rhombus glequins to make cubes on all the nails except the accent nail which I did a full glitter placement using alternating red and green glequins.

This is a very 'blingy' design and quite eye catching which might not be for everyone but I quite like it, is this something you'd wear?
