ILLAMASQUA MELANGE

Happy Friday, Today sees the launch of the new Once collection from Illamasqua so today I'm going to show you my swatches of the stunning new nail polish* in the collection. This actually dropped through my post box yesterday and I was so excited I had to swatch it straight away.
I'm always excited when Illamasqua release a new collection and they've been teasing us with this since the beginning of the month!

“Once is the beauty of the burnished, eroded and erudite. A palette inspired by the gentle and exquisite point when a flower starts to fade and becomes impossibly beautiful in its complex decline. Combined with the subtle opulence of faded gilt layers that reveal themselves the more you blend and search. She is an incandescent moment, a poem alive and a light within a palette of decaying decadence.” – Alex Box, Creative Director

This polish is exactly what this whole collection is about, it fits in perfectly and is just so beautiful, I know this one will be a favourite with many!

Melange* is a dusty teal ( with a bit of jade) which is filled with similar gold/bronze shimmer and microflakies to Facet (which is one of my favourite Illamasqua polishes) It also has some purple micoflakes which sometimes look red.
The formula is the perfect signature Illamasqua formula and this is only one coat! Yes, you guys know 99% of the time I use two coats well this polish simply did not need it !

Ok, that's the end of my rambling, enjoy all the pictures and scroll all the way to the bottom to see some pictures.

Isn't this polish just stunning?
Melange is being released today and you'll be able to get it from Illamasqua stores and online.

PLAYBOY NAILS

Hey guys, sorry for no post. I haven't had much time on the computer recently; the weekend should have been spent on moving rooms but Saturday and 70% of Sunday was spent cooking, eating and shopping! As a result I've spent this week sorting and tidying and moving a heck of a lot of stuff I can't even remember purchasing!
Anyways recently I was sent some Playboy nail polishes to review. I haven't tried Playboy nail polishes before and haven't really heard a lot about them so I was intrigued. The colours I received are the colours you'd probably associate with Playboy, ie. very pink, gold and of course glitter!
I got Hot Violet* which is a purple toned neon pink which is actually a unique colour in my stash! It applies beautifully and covers in 2 lovely coats. The other colour I got was Billionaire* which looks like a plain gold glitter in the bottle however when I swatched this I realised it actually contains gold flakes too which again makes the nail polish unique in my stash.
I decided to use both colours in a glitter gradient, which I haven't done in a while, I started with 2 coats of Hot Violet on all the nails and then used Billionaire to do the gradient starting from the tips (I have a tutorial here if you want to see how I do my glitter gradients). On my ring finger I used these Chevron Nail Vinyls from She Sells Seashells

These are actually quite beautiful nail polishes which I think often get overlooked. You can buy these online in many different places for roughly £2.50 - £4.00 depending on where you look, so these are definitely affordable and worth the money.
Have you tried Playboy nail polish before?

CATRICE SQUEEZE ME & CULT NAILS CLAIRVOYANT

Hey chicas, how are you all doing?
I've just got a lovely combination I wore a while ago. I had worn Squeeze Me for a day and then whilst browsing my stash I rediscovered Clairvoyant by Cult Nails. Remember when everyone was crazy about this polish?

Ok, so that's it, yeah I think I'm over flakies, which is a real shame because I remember how much I used to love them. I do still have a few which I love namely the Finger Paints flakies from 2011, I was lucky to get the whole set from the beautiful Karen in a swap :D This polish never really lived up to the hype for me, how do you feel about this polish and flakies?

COLOR CLUB THE UPTOWN

Hi guys, I'm sorry I've not really been posting as frequently recently, I haven't said anything but I started university last month! I don't share a lot of personal details publicly on my blog for various reasons which is why I've kept quite, but anyway that's what's been taking up a lot of my time recently and also I have to keep my nails short and I can't have them polished for when I go on clinics which is why I haven't painted my nails in a while! Can you guess what I'm studying? (hint: you need to be good with your hands!)
Anyway a great thing about my uni is that everything is so close by and so going to T K Maxx is no longer a separate trip out, anyway last time I was there I didn't intend to buy anything but I ended up leaving with the new Color Club Fall duo set which included this gorgeous flakie polish and East Austin.
I applied 2 coats, a third coat would have deepened the colour but I was happy with the way it looked at 2 so I left it there and applied one coat of topcoat.

It's so gorgeous I highly recommend that if you see this do not hesitate to buy it ! I got loads of compliments on my nails when I wore this and I'm sure you will too :)
Have you bought this yet?

MISS SPORTY PINK DUOCHROME & ZOYA CHLOE ACCENT NAIL

Hi guys, I hope you all had a lovely weekend, today I've got a simple mani that I wore recently to show you.
I started off with one coat f w7 Black and then applied one coat of Miss Sporty Lasting Colour polish in the shade 111. I got this several years ago from a car boot? Anywho I never used it because it looked like a frosty pink in the bottle and this was before I was aware of duochromes and how they come to life over black, this flashed green and pink which a bit of copper. On the accent nail I applied 1 (and a half) coats of Zoya Chloe.

So that's all for now folks, take care and see you in the next post :)

KIKO FLAKIE GRADIENT

I am so glad it's Friday, it has been a really crazy busy day today and I'm so glad I don't have anything to do tomorrow! So, this morning I had to go into town for some stuff, I ended up walking around for about 4 hours in a pair of boots which completely destroyed my feet, and I hardly bought anything! Then I had to go to work and it was really busy today and then when I got home I had half an hour to get ready and then I headed out one of friends wedding (well it's not actually the wedding day today, because it's an Asian wedding, it takes place over 3 days) I couldn't even wear my gorgeous heels :(
Anywho I got home about an hour ago and am so glad to put my feet up, ouch! So let's get onto the nails, here's a quick flakie gradient I did a while ago, this is two coats of Kiko 335 and then I used Zoya Chloe for the gradient. It was quite a subtle effect in real life and it looks a bit brighter in these photos than in real life.

So what do you guys think about flakie gradients?
